How do you disrupt the cultural hierarchy in high schools to create harmony
Confront them with the end of their social life as they know it and have them work it out.

While I’m still breathing. And I am. And we are. While we’re still breathing, who do we really want to be? While still with breath, how close to love and belonging and the cheering section might we get? I assure you it’s out there. I assure you, even if you come from a place where to be worthy is to despise what is feather-like weightless, the gift of freedom blows softly on the wind. The story is written with our vision. Set your sights on something good. You’re not alone in the very human struggle between storylines. Let’s just encourage one another to be free. High five. - Hope Dunbar

Animated introduction to the musical. Asking the questions relevant in high school, under the pressure of classroom learning with the stereotypes that exist. The musical examines the harmful use of labels. Created with watercolor art, hand drawn animation, original beatboxing score, original music.
A message for life: an opportunity to see each other for who we really are, without labels.

I believe I was born to have a creative impact. I write not because I choose to, but because I have to. My connection to the unseen has always fueled my imagination. In my writing I create dreamlike worlds born from suggestive landscapes, textures and rhythmic word combinations. These images appear in a story like manner that I translate
I believe I was born to have a creative impact. I write not because I choose to, but because I have to. My connection to the unseen has always fueled my imagination. In my writing I create dreamlike worlds born from suggestive landscapes, textures and rhythmic word combinations. These images appear in a story like manner that I translate onto paper. I listen and take notes from the characters who speak about what truths are lying underneath. With a degree in Creative Writing and Screenwriting I have pursued storytelling as a way to communicate. I have filled the silence in my days listening to all genres of music. I consider songs and musicals to be the most impactful forms of story-telling. I believe in the power of music to provide a sensory journey that leads to connection. I believe this connection will serve as a catalyst for changing the way teens express themselves. With their peers they can perform a show of their own. I believe that the freedom to contribute original ideas and exert creative control over artistic expression is the way I came to understand myself and a way students can learn to understand each other too. I find it fascinating how sound, interactions, and facial expressions can create story. I saw this musical in London and it changed my mindset forever. For the opening scene of "Put it Down" the high school students will create their own compilation of sounds to express the pressure and tension felt when taking a test.
Your contribution will enable us to support the creation of this musical. We are very grateful for your generosity.
